Kiwi Fruit

Also called Chinese Gooseberry, they have a thick hairy skin enclosing soft fruity green flesh with small black seeds. They are most often eaten raw, added to fruit salads or used to decorate cakes, pastries, tarts and other desserts. Kiwi fruits contain an enzyme that prevents gelatine from setting, so do not use in jellies. Most of those sold outside New Zealand are somewhat underripe, and much more tart than ripe fruit.
