Papaya is also known as paw-paw, papayas are native to Central America but are grown throughout the tropics.

They have a distinctive pear shape and thin shiny skin, that ripens from green to yellow or orange. The flesh inside is a peachy-orange colour with a mass of shiny black seeds in the centre. The flesh has a mild, sweet and slightly aromatic tropical fruity taste. This fruit is great mushed up and fed to babies. Eat on its own, or with other tropical fruits, in desserts or smoothies.
